Nick Clay, CFP®, CPWA®, AIF®, AAMS®
Nick is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner, Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®), Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) and holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠ (AAMS®) designation. In addition to his professional designations Nick holds his Series 7, 66 and 99 FINRA securities licenses, and his Life, Accident, Health, Property and Casualty Insurance Licenses.
Nick’s focus is working with high net worth individuals and families, foundations and endowments to provide a holistic approach to wealth management and investments that encompasses everything from overall investment allocation, investment selection and risk management to spending strategies, estate planning and family legacy planning.
In addition to Nick’s professional designations and credentials, he also graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2005 with a Bachelor Degree in Corporate Finance with a concentration in Investments. In 2022 he completed the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) Certification and Executive Education program from University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Investments and Wealth Institute®. The CPWA® certification program was developed by the Investments & Wealth Institute®, and focuses on the life cycle of wealth – accumulation, preservation, and distribution. CPWA® professionals are able to identify and analyze the unique challenges high-net-worth individuals face and understand how to develop specific strategies to minimize taxes, monetize, and protect assets, maximize growth, and transfer wealth. In 2015 he received a Professional Certificate in Financial Planning from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
Nick was a 40 Under Forty Recipient from the Business Journal of Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia in 2011 and he is also a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership 2015 program. In the community Nick is a member of the Financial Planning Association, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club, serves on many local non-profit boards and attends Westminster Presbyterian Church. Nick and his wife, Lacy, live in Johnson City with their three children.
